Wordbeard Terms of Service

Effective 17 October 2026 · Applies to the Wordbeard app for Android (com.wordbeard.game) and its online features. How we handle data is explained in the Privacy Policy.

The short version.

1. Who we are, and agreeing to these Terms

Wordbeard is a word-ladder puzzle game made and published on Google Play by 1r2b LLC, a California limited liability company (“we”, “us”). These Terms are an agreement between you and 1r2b LLC.

The age screen that new players see when they first start Wordbeard says that by continuing they agree to these Terms, right under its Continue button, and links to these Terms and to the Privacy Policy. By continuing past that screen, or by otherwise playing Wordbeard, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not play, and uninstall the game.

2. Who can play

Wordbeard is for players aged 13 and over. On first launch the game asks for your age, and players under 13 cannot play.

If you are under the age of majority where you live (18 in most places), you may play only with the permission of a parent or guardian, who should read these Terms with you. Where the law requires it, they agree to these Terms on your behalf.

3. Your account

4. Your licence to play

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to install and play Wordbeard on devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial entertainment, as long as you follow these Terms. We keep all other rights in the game.

5. Virtual items

The game has in-game items and rewards: Doubloons, Rations, reward chests, emblems, experience and levels, and similar items (“virtual items”). Today they are all earned or refilled in play; none are bought with money.

There are no ads and nothing to buy in Wordbeard today. If we add paid items or ads later, these Terms and Google Play’s terms will apply to them, and we will update these Terms before that release.

6. Fair play and conduct

Wordbeard has leaderboards and rewards, so it only works if everyone plays fair. You agree not to:

Your captain name must not be offensive, hateful, sexual or threatening, must not pretend to be another person, us or someone working for us, and must not contain personal details, links or advertising.

If we reasonably believe you have broken these Terms, we may rename your captain, lock its name, remove or hide your results from leaderboards, take back virtual items, or suspend or delete your account. We will act in proportion to what happened. If you think we got it wrong, email us (section 19).

7. Your captain name and other content

The game gives you a captain name, and you can change it. Chosen names go through a filter that blocks offensive words, and we can lock or reset a name by hand. Other players can see your captain name and results, as the Privacy Policy explains.

You keep any rights you have in the name you choose. You give us a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to store, display and reproduce it in the game and our online features (such as leaderboards and friends lists) for as long as it is part of your account. You are responsible for what you choose, and you confirm that you have the right to use it.

8. Leaderboards and rewards

The game has Daily and Weekly leaderboards, all-time boards and friends lists, and it gives rewards for play. Our server checks submitted runs: it replays them and, for Daily, Weekly and reward-earning campaign runs, asks Google Play Integrity whether the run came from a genuine copy of the app. A run that fails these checks may not be ranked or rewarded.

Results and rewards can be corrected, removed or withdrawn, even after they have been shown or given, if a check finds a problem, a bug produced them, or they were won in breach of these Terms. Leaderboards and rewards are for fun and carry no prize outside the game.

9. Changes to the game and availability

We are a small developer and the game will change over time. We may add, change or remove puzzles, words, features and virtual items. Online features, such as cloud save, the Daily and Weekly puzzles, leaderboards, friends and rewards, depend on our servers. They may be unavailable at times, and we may change or discontinue them. Where we reasonably can, we will give notice in the game before a major online feature is discontinued.

10. Stopping and deleting your account

You can stop playing at any time. To delete your account, open Settings and tap Delete account, or follow the steps on our account deletion page. What happens to your data, including the permanent deletion 30 days later, is described in the Privacy Policy.

We may suspend or end your access as described in section 6, or if we discontinue the game. The parts of these Terms that by their nature should last, such as sections 5 and 11 to 15, continue after your use ends.

11. Ownership and credits

Wordbeard, including its code, art, sounds, puzzles and name, belongs to 1r2b LLC or its licensors and is protected by law. These Terms do not give you any rights in it other than the licence in section 4.

The game includes third-party material, such as word lists, dictionary data, fonts and software libraries, used under their own licences. They are listed in the game under Settings → Credits & licences, and those licences apply to that material.

12. Disclaimers

Wordbeard is free, and we provide it “as is” and “as available”. As far as the law allows, we make no promises that the game will always be available, free of errors or bugs, or that your progress will never be lost. The words, hints and definitions in the game may contain mistakes. We give no warranties beyond those in these Terms and those the law does not let us exclude.

Some places do not allow some of these disclaimers. In those places they apply only as far as the law allows.

13. Limits on liability

As far as the law allows:

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or under your statutory rights as a consumer.

14. Indemnity

If someone else brings a claim against us because you broke these Terms, you agree to cover our reasonable losses and costs from that claim, as far as the law allows. This applies only to your own breach of these Terms.

15. Governing law and courts

These Terms, and any dispute about them or the game, are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.

If we cannot settle a dispute, it will be heard by the state and federal courts located in California, and you and we agree to their jurisdiction. Please email us first; most problems can be sorted out quickly. Nothing in these Terms makes you give up your right to bring a claim in court, whether on your own or together with others.

If you are a consumer living in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country of residence, and you can bring a claim in the courts of your country.

16. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms, for example when the game changes or the law requires it. We will post the new version on this page and change the effective date at the top. If a change is significant, we will also say so in the game before it takes effect. If you keep playing after a change takes effect, the new Terms apply. If you do not agree, stop playing and delete your account. A change never applies to a dispute that arose before it took effect.

17. Google Play

You get Wordbeard from Google Play, so the Google Play Terms of Service also apply to your download and to your use of Google Play. These Terms are between you and 1r2b LLC, not Google. Google is not responsible for the game or its content.

18. General

These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about the game. If a part of these Terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies. If we do not enforce a part straight away, we can still enforce it later. You may not transfer these Terms to someone else. We may transfer them to a company that takes over the game, and your rights under them stay the same.

19. Contact

1r2b LLC, California, United States. Email ronen@1r2b.com with any question about these Terms. If it is about your account, include your Captain ID from the bottom of the game’s Settings screen.
